Welcome to my web page!

Hi, there!  I'm Melody van Achterberg, daughter of Jay and Crystal van Achterberg, and sister to seven other kids.  We always have a busy day at our home in Connecticut!

This page is my very own, and I'm afraid it's not exactly what I want it to be, but maybe someday it will get to that stage.  Hopefully you will enjoy it anyway!

Here are some things about Me...

Well, as I said, my name is Melody van Achterberg.  I am 14 years old and live in Connecticut.  I am the oldest of Eight children, and sometimes that can be hard!  I've started high school this year, and it has been a lot of work, but I am enjoying it!!
----------------------------------
Some of my hobbies are reading, writing, knitting, typing, and crochet.  I especially like to read missionary books, and I have written around fifteen or twenty books on the computer - unfinished books, that is!  As you can see, I have a little trouble finishing my stories!  My new ideas come faster than I can finish the old ones, but I never seem to have trouble keeping the stories going!  I'm actually working on a story right now, but it's not finished yet.  It's going along really well, though!
-----------------------------------
"M'Bote" (mmm-bō'-tĕ) means "Hello" in the language of Lingala, which is the local language of Impfondo, Republic of Congo, Africa, where my family and I lived for two years.  I'm working on pages about Congo... but it's slow going!!!  Sorry!
-----------------------------------
My last name, van Achterberg, is Dutch, as my dad's father, Johan II, is from Holland.  I've never been to Holland, but my dad went when he was a boy, and I might go someday.  I think it would be fun to go and visit Grandpa's relatives!
-----------------------------------
This year and last year, my family attended a once-a-week Friday Homeschool Co-Op, called Co-Op Kids for Christ.  There are many other families we knew already and we' ve met there, but it has been a good experience.  We've made new friends and learned new things.  It has been hard sometimes, but I believe God has used this Co-Op for His will, and He will continue to do so.  Praise God, and Thank You to all the moms who make Co-Op Kids for Christ possible!

Thanks for visiting!
